  5. These programs require the ParNet or SerNet packages, available
  6. separately.
  7.  
  8. There are some great utilities available for the Amiga which allow
  9. parallel and serial connections between two machines.  This allows
  10. files to be transferred effortlessly, and programs on either
  11. hard-drive to be shared.
  12.  
  13. If you have both machines in the same room, possibly operated by the
  14. same person, talking back and forth isn't a problem... But suppose you
  15. had two rooms with a computer in each one of them, and you didn't want
  16. to yell stuff across to the other room... Thus NetUtilities was born.

  19. What's In the Package:
  20. ----------------------
  21.  
  22. Inform - This is the background message server.  This always hangs
  23. around and checks for stuff coming from the other machine, and calls
  24. the appropriate command when it is sent.  Inform will flash the other
  25. computer's screen when you try run "Send".
  26.  
  27. Send - A small CLI program which you can run to open a chat-send
  28. window on your machine.  Just type into it as you would into a CLI
  29. window.  When you press RETURN at the end of each line, it will be
  30. sent to the other machine.

  32. Receive - Another small program which opens a chat-receive window on
  33. your screen.
  34.  
  35. NetCmd - This allows you to execute a command on the other person's
  36. computer.  Say for instance you have a reboot command on the remote
  37. machine... If you executed it from your computer, it would load the
  38. code to your machine and reboot your machine.  With "NetCmd", the
  39. "Inform" program will sense the command coming over the network, and
  40. execute it on the receiving machine, so in this case the remote
  41. machine would execute reboot and reboot the remote machine.

  43. Reboot  - Executes a warm reset.  Handy with NetCmd.
